Scope and history

The European Symposium on Martensitic Transformations is one of the important events for scientists who are interested in materials undergoing martensitic transformation including steels, shape memory alloys, magnetic shape memory alloys and ceramics.

This conference covers all aspects of investigation of martensitic transformation, from theory, modelling, experimental characterization, fabrication and processing, structure/property evaluation and applications.

Participants of ESOMAT will have an great opportunity to exchange about those topics with the world community of scientists interested in all these aspects of investigation of martensitic transformation.

ESOMAT is also a great chance for young scientists and students to present their results for discussion and be exposed to the recent development from researchers on similar topics worldwide.

The next ESOMAT 2018 will be held in Metz (France) from August 27th to August 31st 2018. On the behalf of Organizing Committee we invite all scientists interesting in martensitic transformations to participate in European Symposium on Martensitic Transformations.

The scientific program will largely but not uniquely, concentrate around the topics listed below:

Fundamental aspects, thermodynamics and crystallography of martensitic and other displacive transformations
Martensitic and other displacive transformations in: Ni-free alloys ; Ni-Ti based alloys ; Ti based alloys ; high entropy alloys ; magnetic systems ; high temperature systems ; steels, including TRIP/TWIP ; non-metallic materials ; architected materials, nanosized materials and systems, thin films ; composites and hybrid materials.
    Additive manufacturing
Modelling of martensitic transformations, shape memory and superelasticity
    Characterization and testing
    Properties and applications
