About the position

A temporary, full-time position is available at the University of Agder, School of Business and Law, as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow in economic psychology and behavioural economics The position is affiliated to the Department of Economics and Finance for a period of three years, possibly four years, depending on the candidate’s academic background and experience including 33 % teaching or other tasks at the School of Business and Law. The position is located at Campus Kristiansand. The starting date is negotiable with the Faculty.

The School of Business and Law has approximately 2000 students and 100 faculty members and offers studies in economics and administration, HR, marketing, tourism management, law and innovation, at the bachelor, master and PhD level, and with many applicants for the studies. There are also a number of courses on post-graduate and continuing education in addition to an experience-based MBA (Master in Business Administration). Emphasis is placed on international, innovative and responsible perspectives in all programs, and in recent years there has also been considerable recruitment of employees internationally. Furthermore, it can be mentioned that the business school is in the final phase of an international accreditation process within the accreditation organisation AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), which will be important for the further positioning and development of the School of Business and Law.


The Business School is set to strengthen its academic environment within economic psychology and behavioural economics. Those who are appointed are expected to publish in highly rated international peer-reviewed journals.

The research environment at the School of Business and Economics cooperate extensively with both industrial partners and other Norwegian and international academic institutions. We expect the person employed to participate in our research projects, both as part of the team and in the development of new projects. Experience from working with externally funded research projects is an advantage.

The Business School will host the annual conference of The International Association for Research in Economic Psychology, and those who are employed are expected to contribute to the organisation of the conference.

Required qualifications

  • a doctoral degree in a relevant subject area. Potential applicants must have had their theses approved by the time of the application deadline.
  • good knowledge of English, both written and oral
  • the ability to teach professionally in English

Desired qualifications

Knowledge in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, both written and oral

In the ranking of qualified candidates, emphasis will be placed on the applicants' specialisation in relation to the need at the Business School to complement the existing competence.

Emphasis will be placed on the ability to conduct experimental studies on choice behaviour and decision making or have solid experience with quantitative research methods and analysis (survey data).

Candidates with publications and/or articles in the field of behavioural design, behavioural economics and economic psychology are particularly encouraged to apply, especially with applications to financial behaviour, economic socialisation and financial knowledge.

Emphasis will also be placed on the project description and its relevance in relation to the relevant subject and research environment at the faculty.

The position is remunerated according to the State Salary Scale, salary plan 17.510, code 1352, NOK 544 400 – 565 500 gross salary per year. Higher salary grades may be considered for particularly well-qualified applicants. A compulsory pension contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund is deducted from the pay according to current statutory provisions.
