Amazonicas VIII — International Conference on Amazonian Languages 2020

This will be the eighth meeting of Amazônicas, an international conference dedicated to research into the native languages of the Amazon Basin. The conference is held every other year in a South American country. Following the 2016 meeting in Leticia, Colombia / Tabatinga, Brazil and the 2018 meeting in Baños, Ecuador, the 2020 conference will take place in the city of Goiânia, capital of the Brazilian state of Goiás.

Amazônicas VIII will include the following symposia: ''Nominal Classification: grammar, discourse, typology''; ''The interplay between phonology and morphology''; and ''Verbal art in indigenous languages of Amazonia: tradition and innovation.'' There will also be a symposium focused specifically on the Macro-Jê stock and a general session. This is the first time that Amazônicas will host a general session in addition to the more specific symposia.
