Postdoctoral Research Assistant in CRISPR Gene Editing Nuffield Department of Clinical Neurosciences, John Radcliffe Hospital, Headington, Oxford Grade 7: £32,817 - £40,322 p.a.

The Clinical Ophthalmology Research Group is led by Robert MacLaren, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Oxford and Consultant Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Oxford Eye Hospital. The main objectives of Professor MacLaren’s translational medical research programme are the development of novel genetic, cellular and molecular therapies for retinal diseases, the investigation of innovative retinal prosthetics and ocular surgical techniques and testing novel therapies for retinal diseases in human clinical trials. The Clinical Ophthalmology Research Group is seeking a postdoctoral research assistant to undertake an investigation into novel applications of CRISPR gene editing for treatment of inherited retinal diseases.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in biosciences with a background in CRISPR gene editing. Prior experience with murine models of retinal disease would be advantageous. We are looking for a highly qualified individual with outstanding academic credentials, who can work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a milestone-orientated research environment.

The post is full-time, for a fixed-term of 12 months (until the 31 December 2020) in the first instance.
