The Centre for Health Economics (CHE) are seeking to appoint a Reader / Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics dedicated to developing and leading excellent research with policy relevance and impact. The appointee will be based in CHE within the Health Policy Team. The Health Policy Team undertakes applied and methodological economics research to critically appraise and evaluate organisational and incentive structures of the health care system. We have established a portfolio of high quality research on the measurement of organisational performance, evaluation of the behaviour of individuals and organisations within the health care system, and evaluation of health policy. Projects include research into funding and resource flows in the social and health care systems, market analysis, incentives and system management, measurement of the quality of health care, and productivity and efficiency analysis. We have a significant portfolio of research focused on the economics of mental health and mental health policy which is a core element of CHE's research agenda.

The successful candidate will contribute to internationally outstanding research and scholarship, applying an economic perspective to the quantitative analysis and evaluation of health policy.
We are seeking an individual with an outstanding track record of research in health economics and health policy. The successful candidate will be conversant with the range of research methods used in health economics including their application to potentially large and complex / linked data. The appointee will provide senior-level leadership in health economics research within CHE and the University. The candidate will contribute to the Health Policy team's portfolio of research projects in health economics and policy, and develop new project proposals and related activities. You will also lead on and contribute to the production of research outputs and research outcomes and publish high impact research in quality journals, and to devise, direct and develop research projects generating external research funding.
Skills, Experience & Qualification needed
- PhD in economics or quantitative subject or equivalent experience

- Well-established national and international reputation in health economics and/or health policy experience

- Experience of generating new and innovative research ideas, identifying opportunities for collaborative research, and developing research projects generating external research funding.

- A proven track record in research with publications in leading peer-reviewed journals and other publications or outputs

Salary will be within the range of £51,034 - £59,135 (Senior Research Fellow) or £51,034 - £62,727 (Reader) a year.
