n response to the emerging research diversity, the SIG on Development of Information and Communication Technology in the Asia Pacific Neighbourhood—DICTAP is organising a workshop on ICT Trends in Emerging Economies. The developmental growth of ICT in the Asia Pacific countries has been phenomenal in recent years as the Government of these countries have embarked on various ICT initiatives. Despite these efforts, the ICT development rate of each country has not been the same among countries from the low-income, lower-middle-income and upper-middle-income economies within the Asia Pacific region (hitherto referred to as emerging economies).

In general, the ICT growth in these countries is only at the emerging or development stage.The workshop invites contributions from researchers who are from emerging economies* or those who are working on issues related to emerging economies* to share scholarly findings and professional insights in ICT development in the field of education. WICTTEE 2014 is planned as a full day workshop to be held either on the 39th Nov or 1st Dec 2014.


The scope of this sub-conference will cover, but is not limited to the following areas:

    Ÿ  Multimedia content development
    Ÿ  Game-based learning
    Ÿ  Mobile/ubiquitous learning
    Ÿ  Technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPCK)
    Ÿ  Technology-enhanced critical and creative thinking scaffolds
    Ÿ  Teacher professional development
    Ÿ  Life-long learning
    Ÿ  Open educational resources

We welcome papers that report on accomplished research and work-in-progress. Papers of a more conceptual nature are also welcomed. Papers which illustrate technologies specifically customized to the contexts and needs of developing countries are greatly encouraged. All accepted papers will be indexed by Elsevier Bibliographic Databases (e.g. Scopus, Engineering Village and others).
